Steph is a registered yoga teacher, practicing Hatha yoga — with focus on body alignment and strength.
Yoga with Steph.
What is Hatha Yoga?
Most forms of yoga in the West can be classified as Hatha Yoga. Hatha simply refers to the practice of physical yoga postures, meaning your Ashtanga, vinyasa, Iyengar and Power Yoga classes are all Hatha Yoga. The word “hatha” can be translated two ways: as “willful” or “forceful,” or the yoga of activity, and as “sun” (ha) and “moon” (tha), the yoga of balance. Hatha practices are designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit in preparation for meditation.
What is Yoga for Everyone?
Yoga for Everyone seeks to encourage people of all abilities to bring more movement and strength into their bodies by encouraging students to find their edge of resistance, and gently work to that level. Yoga is not a competition it is about being present in one’s body and in the moment.
Starting in September Steph offers zoom classes thru the FIre Island School Adult Education. In November She teaches weekly classes online as well.
What you need to know:
Steph's clients should be dressed in loose / comfortable clothing. Yoga classes are carried out on the beach at the end of Birch Walk, Fair Harbor on Fire Island during the summer months.
You will need to bring a beach towel or large flat sheet (to replace a traditional yoga mat). Steph supplies yoga straps and blocks for each client.
Please arrive 5 mins before class so you can "rake" your spot on the sand.

Reviews
Part of Steph's tribe...
“Part of being a Fire Islander for me is being part of Steph’s tribe. Steph has helped me with her healing touch through surgery and difficult times. Yoga on the beach is something indescribable to those who cannot be blessed enough to experience it – Steph, the group and the ocean – what else is there!.”

An amazing experience!
“Yoga on the beach with Stephanie is an amazing experience. I had never done yoga before, and never felt like a beginner or giving up. And that is all because of Stephanie.”

Summer treat.
“With the ocean and occasional dolphins in front, deer and dogs in back and on the sides, you can't find a more beautiful yoga studio! All this and it comes with friends—those you know and those you get to know.”
